Headway Suffolk
Headway Suffolk’s aims are to provide rehabilitation, care and support for people with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition, and to offer their families, friends or carers respite, support and advice.
The services offered will assist in recovery and rehabilitation, help to develop social and daily living skills and help those who are able and wish to do so to progress on to other services.
Brainy Dogs – A Unique Project
Prisoners at HMP Hollesley Bay, near Woodbridge, teenagers and adults whose lives have been affected by mental ill-health, exclusion from education and criminal behaviour gain work experience and learn new life skills by training rescue dogs to provide life-changing support and become companion dogs to adults with a brain injury or a neurological condition.
After a brain injury or neurological condition people can experience a personality change which may result in them losing friends and family. The dogs fill the gap that this leaves.
The Professor Stephen Hawking Neuro Centre
Headway Suffolk is embarking on ambitious and exciting plans to be a new rehabilitation hub and housing for clients – with the centre to named ‘The Professor Stephen Hawking Neuro Centre’ after the world-renowned scientist.
The centre will be built on the Ravenswood area of Ipswich and include facilities for rehabilitation and support for clients with brain injuries and neurological conditions. It will also include 24 homes in two bungalows where our clients will have the opportunity to live as independently as they are able to.
It will replace our current hub at Epsilon House on Ransomes Europark, which will be sold to help support the new project. It is due to open in 2020.

We have met some of the people that have been supported by Headway and they have all said without Headway they would not have been on the same road to recovery.
